What does it mean to be an independent artist?

Independent artists make their living on their own terms and don't have to rely on galleries for income.

Independent artists must think like any self-employed business person, finding new markets for their work and using all their connections to get the word out about their creations.

But it is also important for them to create their own platform to reach out to the art market, pier-to-pier, and succeed.

The apotheosis for the independent artist takes place twice per year at Clio Art Fair, the “Anti” fair for independent artists. This March 8-11 2018, 57 artists from all over the world showcased their works at Clio art fair where artists and buyers interacted pier to pier without any intermediary.
