Thierry Mugler’s first ever exhibition at MMFA

The Montreal Museum of Fine Art (MMFA) is hosting the first ever Thierry Mugler Retrospective that brings together around 150 garments made between 1973 and 2014. More than two years in the making, the exhibition of fashion by the French designer demonstrates the revolutionisation in the fashion industry by the house Thierry Mugler.

Alongside the garments, ‘Thierry Mugler: Couturissime’ brings together the designer’s accessories and costumes, photography, video and archival sketches.

Fashion designer Thierry Mugler is known for his structural garments which feature exaggerated and strong feminism, that aim to empower women. Songstress Cardi B for instance, wore a Thierry oyster-emulated gown, which was paired by a pearl neck piece, a matching hat and fringed gloves at the 2019 Grammys awards.

The exhibition which was open to the public on 2nd of March, will be closing on the 8th of September 2019.

Curated by Thierry-Maxime Loriot.
