Explore the past and the future at Zeitz MOCCA

Still Here Tomorrow to High Five You Yesterday’, is a currently – ongoing art exhibition at Africa’s largest museum of Contemporary African Art, Zeitz MOCCA in Cape Town, South Africa.

The exhibition which can be said to be a true reflection of the museum’s mission – which is to focus on the diversity, novelty and intricacies of contemporary African art, explores diverse ways in which artists, performers, architects and writers approach the difficulties deep-rooted, within the notions of Utopia and progress in the continent and its diaspora.

Merging together spaces and time that exist both in the realm of the mind and in the physical unknown, the exhibition highlights the fantasies, analogies, stereotypes and patterns of progress. It seeks to reconstruct both the real and imagined accounts that aren’t constrained by time and place, where the past, present and future are married into one.

‘Still Here Tomorrow to High Five You Yesterday’ is an opportunity to explore imagined worlds, the past spaces as well as the potential future outcomes.

The exhibition’s title comes from an American TV series, Adventure Time – Vol 1, by Pendleton Ward,“This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I’ll still be here tomorrow to high-five you yesterday, my friend. Peace.”
