Artist Opportunities Opening This June

For artists, the right opportunity can open a new path at the right moment. It may be a chance to exhibit in New York, join a creative residency, or take part in a focused research-based program that helps expand an artistic practice.

This week’s selection brings together three opportunities for artists working across visual art, contemporary practice, and collage. Each one offers a different kind of space: public visibility, studio development, or deeper artistic research.

1. Clio Art Fair September 2026

Clio Art Fair is now accepting applications for its September 2026 editions in New York, taking place from September 17–20, 2026 and September 24–27, 2026.

Clio Art Fair is a curated contemporary art fair dedicated to supporting independent and self-represented artists from around the world. The fair focuses on artists without exclusive New York gallery representation, creating a platform for them to present their work directly to collectors, curators, art professionals, and the public.

The fair welcomes a wide range of visual art practices, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation, digital art, and other contemporary approaches.

Artists who apply by the Early Bird deadline save $50 on the application fee.




2. KUNSTRAUM — Open Call for Artists-in-Residence 2026/2027

KUNSTRAUM is accepting applications for its 2026 and 2027 Artist-in-Residence program.

KUNSTRAUM is an artist-led gallery and residency program in New York City dedicated to artistic production, collaboration, and exchange. The program offers three-month residencies for national and international artists, organized on a quarterly cycle.

For 2026, limited availability remains with one residency open for October–December. Applications are also open for all 2027 cycles: January–March, April–June, July–September, and October–December.

Each residency includes a desk-sized studio in KUNSTRAUM’s Brooklyn lofts with 24/7 access. Residents also receive access to gallery programming, monthly studio visits, salons, field trips, social media promotion, website features, and participation in the annual Members Show.

The residency is suited for artists who are looking for studio space, professional exchange, and a supportive creative community in Brooklyn.



3. Kolaj Institute — Collage Artist Lab: Montreal: City as Archive

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Opportunity Type: Call for Entry / Open Call

Deadline: June 28, 2026

Kolaj Institute is inviting artists to apply for Montreal: City as Archive, a five-day in-person Artist Lab at Atelier Galerie 2112 in Montreal.

The program is designed for collage artists who want to explore the city as a living archive. Artists will use place, history, walking, material culture, memory, and research as starting points for making new work.

The Artist Lab will take place from July 28 to August 2, 2026, with two virtual meetings on Zoom before the in-person program. During the Lab, artists will explore Montreal through site visits, discussions, presentations, and studio work.

The program is open to self-motivated artists over the age of 21 from anywhere in the world. It is especially suited for artists interested in collage, archives, cities, storytelling, public space, and the relationship between place and memory.



Each opportunity offers something different. Clio Art Fair gives artists the chance to exhibit in New York and connect with a wider public. KUNSTRAUM offers studio space, community, and professional exchange in Brooklyn. Kolaj Institute’s Montreal Artist Lab invites artists to slow down, research, gather, and create through the layered stories of a city.

Before applying, artists should ask what kind of support they need most right now: visibility, space, community, research, or a new environment for experimentation.

The best opportunity is the one that meets the work where it is and helps it move forward.
