Global Gateways: Artist Opportunities You Shouldn’t Miss

Every week, Art Dealer Street highlights opportunities designed to push artistic practice forward—whether through financial support, residencies, or cultural recognition. These calls are more than just open applications; they are platforms that bridge ambition with access, visibility, and global networks.

What makes this week’s selection exciting is their diversity. From a national prize that affirms Morocco’s cultural leadership, to a UK-based mural fund that transforms public space into living canvases, to innovative grants that connect art with environmental stewardship, and finally, a residency at one of the world’s leading museums, each of these opportunities expands the role of art in society.

Artists at any stage of their careers will find something here: a chance to be recognized, supported, and challenged in ways that will deepen both their practice and their impact.

The Morocco National Visual Arts Prize celebrates and uplifts the country’s most dynamic visual artists. Backed by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, the award spans disciplines from painting and sculpture to digital and experimental practices. Its mission is to affirm Morocco’s creative voices both within national borders and across international platforms.

Artists who participate gain not only recognition but also validation as contributors to the nation’s cultural identity. The prize emphasizes Morocco’s role in global dialogue while supporting artists financially and symbolically. By highlighting works that speak to both heritage and innovation, the award underscores the evolving landscape of Moroccan art.

The Abbey Harris Mural Fund supports artists and organizations bringing murals to public spaces across the UK. These grants provide resources to transform ordinary walls into extraordinary artworks that engage communities, celebrate diversity, and tell stories visible to everyone.

More than decorative interventions, murals carry cultural and social weight. They become part of the shared identity of cities and towns, anchoring communities in visual storytelling. By supporting mural projects, the Fund empowers artists to embed meaning, memory, and imagination directly into the built environment.

3. Rijksmuseum Artist-in-Residence 2026

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Application Deadline: August 24, 2025

The Rijksmuseum Artist-in-Residence program is a rare chance to immerse yourself in one of the world’s most extraordinary collections. Residents gain access to archives, masterpieces, and curatorial expertise, all of which serve as catalysts for new creative work.

What distinguishes this residency is its focus on dialogue between past and present. By engaging directly with historic works, artists are invited to generate contemporary responses that expand cultural narratives. The program values critical inquiry and encourages projects that spark public engagement.

This residency is both a career-defining moment and a profound research opportunity, connecting artists with centuries of history while giving them the space to create something entirely new.

Nestled in the Green Mountains, Vermont Studio Center hosts an inclusive, global community of artists and writers, honoring creative work as the communication of spirit through form. All accepted residents will enjoy access to our renowned Visiting Artists & Writers Program, private accommodations, private studio space, and delicious fresh daily meals. Residency sessions are approximately 2, 3, and 4-weeks and offer opportunity to create, connect, and further develop your practice in a supportive community. All accepted residents receive partial fellowships and 35% receive full fellowships.

Together, these opportunities demonstrate the many ways artists can expand their practice: through national recognition, public space transformation, ecological advocacy, and deep historical dialogue. They remind us that art is not confined to studios or galleries—it lives in streets, museums, landscapes, and communities.

Applying is not just about the potential of winning; it is also about clarity, intention, and growth. Each application asks you to reflect on your practice and position your work within larger social, cultural, or environmental narratives.

As deadlines approach, now is the moment to decide where your practice belongs next—whether on the walls of a city, in the archives of a museum, or in the urgent conversations about our planet’s future. Art Dealer Street will continue to bring you these bridges between vision and opportunity. Step onto them boldly.
