Beyond Boundaries: Four Artist Calls to Reset, Refine, and Reimagine

What does growth look like in your artistic practice right now? For some, it’s a quiet return to focus and reflection. For others, it’s about experimenting with digital frontiers or entering spaces that support risk, failure, and reinvention. This week’s opportunities are crafted with that range in mind—offering not just time or money, but frameworks that empower artists to go deeper.

Whether you're seeking the peaceful isolation of a winter residency in Finland, a rigorous critique community in the metaverse, or a platform in the heart of Brooklyn’s creative scene, these programs support serious engagement with your work. With deadlines approaching, now is the moment to carve out space for the next chapter of your practice.

This self-directed program offers residencies of 2–4 weeks on Washington State's Vashon Island, nestled in the Salish Sea. Designed to center reflection and creativity, the residency invites artists across disciplines to disconnect from routine and engage deeply with their practice. Systematic community expectations are minimal, freeing artists to explore, rest, or research without pressure to produce. Space is shared with other creatives—community and collaboration are possible, but always optional. Financial accessibility is prioritized through a sliding-scale fee ($0–$2,175) based on ability to pay; priority is given to nonmatriculated artists age 21+. A $25 application fee applies, and accepted artists also pay a refundable deposit. Nonresident housing is artist responsibility.

Calling all digital visionaries, 3D builders, and metaverse dreamers. Loop Art Critique’s Group 19 session is more than a virtual residency—it’s a multidimensional laboratory. Under the guidance of Joey Zaza and peers, artists will embark on a 10-week collaborative critique residency culminating in a collective exhibition. The goal? To break traditional spatial barriers and push digital art into new immersive, interactive territories using tools like Three.js, Hydra, DreamGaussian, and more. Anonymous application. Constructive, community-driven growth guaranteed.

These aren’t just opportunities—they’re invitations to reset how you make art. Whether your practice craves the hush of an island winter, the feedback loop of digital salons, the immersion of a gallery-situated studio, or the expansiveness of meditative silence, there’s a terrain here for your next chapter.

Approach each application not as a submission, but as a clarifying moment. Who do you want to become as an artist? Where are the edges of your comfort zone? What kind of rhythm feeds your work? These calls reward not just skill, but honesty, curiosity, and intention.

Review eligibility, align with your values, and apply with clarity—not because you must, but because it’s time. Your next milestone is less about destination and more about transformation. Leverage these portals to push, pause, or pry into new possibilities. Your next work’s greatest ally might just be the space you give it.
