ITS ALIVE! A CENTURY OF ANIMATION FROM THE COLLECTION

@MOMA MUSEUM OF MODERN ART 01 AUG, 2026 - 31 AUG, 2027 Since the birth of motion pictures, animation has enchanted audiences. At MoMA, its creative evolution has been celebrated by more than a hundred programs and acquisitions from both independent filmmakers and major studios alike. Drawing from this history and spanning more than 100 years of expression and aesthetics, It’s Alive! shares the work of more than 35 artists and filmmakers who advanced the medium. INTERLUDE OF JOY - HELEN MARDEN @GAGOSIAN 14 JULY - 21 AUG, 2026 Gagosian is pleased to announce Interlude of Joy, an exhibition of new paintings by Helen Marden. Opening on July 14 at 541 West 24th Street, the presentation introduces Marden’s largest works to date, including her first paintings in a triptych format and watercolors. Marden paints with acrylic, resin, and powdered pigment, working on canvas panels placed on the studio floor or exterior ground. She applies vivid hues with dynamic gestures in glossy, translucent pours and looping, gestural strands across multiple white panels. Her expressive abstractions are driven by the joy of life. “I feel strongest when I’m in my studio,” she explains. Discover more

PERSONA / NON PERSONA EXHIBIT @BRONX RIVER ART CENTER 30 JUL 2026 - 30 AUG 2026

“Persona / Non Persona” is a dynamic group exhibition by the queer art collective, Magenta Lounge, curated by its founder James Horner. The exhibition brings together the work of eleven LGBTQ+ artists whose paintings, photographs, sculptures, videos, and multidisciplinary works reflect on queer identity, self-discovery, and the beauty of individuality. Through diverse creative practices, the artists explore the complexities of personal expression, belonging, and the ongoing process of self-recognition.

BETWEEN TIDES - MOKO FUKUYAMA @ROCKAWAY BEACH, QUEENS, NY 27 JUNE - 13 SEPT, 2026 Between Tides brings together six artists—Moko Fukuyama, Ilana Harris-Babou, Las Hermanas Iglesias, Carlos H. Matos, Amalia Pica, and the collective SUPERFLEX—to rethink ping-pong tables as playable sculptures. These works invite beachgoers to approach the game in unexpected ways, transforming a familiar activity into a space for experimentation and new connections. Responding to the diverse cultural and ecological landscape of Rockaway Beach, the artists draw from sculpture, myth, and public engagement to expand the game’s symbolic and social dimensions.
