PHYSICAL/METAPHYSICAL - HIROSHI SENJU @SUNDARAM TAGORE GALLERY 16 OCT - 15 NOV, 2025
Known for his ability to fuse traditional Japanese painting techniques with a minimalist, contemporary visual language, Hiroshi Senju explores the sacredness of nature and the human condition through his masterful treatment of water and light. At the heart of this exhibition is a monumental eighteen-panel waterfall painting commissioned for the Ise Shrine, one of Japan’s most sacred Shinto sites. During visits to Ise, Mie Prefecture, about 200 miles southwest of Tokyo, Senju was deeply moved by the atmosphere created by an ancient, unnamed pond. He sought to translate the profound sense of time and place he experienced onto canvas, creating waterfalls that cascade into the pond’s deep-green waters. Discover more

THE CHICAGO SHOW
@ORTEGA Y GASSET PROJECTS 18 OCT, 2025 - 23 NOV, 2025
Chicago’s artists, who have relocated from all over the world, experience the city as an industrial and vibrant landscape, and carry with them the weight of its history and the pulse of experimentation. Grown from harsh topographies of prairie and factory, the city gives birth to unique artistic voices that thrive in ambiguity while delicately balancing a coexistence of nature and technology. In this tension, we find a dialogue not just between forms, but between ideologies: the rigid structures of the city versus the infinite openness of nature.
