WHEN OBJECTS DREAM - MAN RAY

@THE MET FIFTH AVENUE 14 SEPT, 2025 - 01 FEB, 2026 American artist Man Ray (1890–1976) was a visionary known for his radical experiments that pushed the limits of photography, painting, sculpture, and film. In the winter of 1921, he pioneered the rayograph, a new twist on a technique used to make photographs without a camera. By placing objects on or near a sheet of light-sensitive paper, which he exposed to light and developed, Man Ray turned recognizable subjects into wonderfully mysterious compositions. Introduced in the period between Dada and Surrealism, the rayographs’ transformative, magical qualities led the poet Tristan Tzara to describe them as capturing the moments “when objects dream.” Discover more

ASCEND THE EVOLUTION OF IDENTITY - BRIAN HIGGINS @ALESSANDRO BERNI GALLERY 30 SEPT - 12 OCT, 2025

Alessandro Berni Gallery is pleased to present Ascend, The Evolution of Identity, a solo exhibition by California-based artist Brian Higgins, on view from September 30th through October 12th, 2025 at the gallery’s Chelsea location. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 6:00 to 9:00 pm, with the artist in attendance, and Brian will also be painting his final piece of the series live in the gallery from 11 am to 6 pm, Saturday, October 4th. In Ascend, The Evolution of Identity, Higgins invites you to step into a realm woven from a lifetime of observations – a tapestry of images, colors, and textures that dance between the familiar and the intuitive. You may recognize the ambient glow of a city skyline or feel the warmth of a sunlit shore, only to be swept away by abstract pigments and swirling brushstrokes that spark wonder. The works by Higgins presented here come alive through the spectator’s engagement, creating a custom visual journey that pulses with energy, born from the interplay between the personal perspectives and the artful arrangements before each one of us. Somewhere in-between, you may uncover a spark to ignite dormant visions of a world yet to be explored and a pathway to a new facet of yourself. Discover more

WEAVING WHAT WE CARRY - PRANATI PANDA

@AICON CONTEMPORARY 03 SEPT - 04 OCT, 2025 In Weaving What We Carry, Pranati Panda presents a body of work that is as introspective as it is expansive—mapping the slow and deliberate paths by which time, memory, and selfhood accumulate shape. This solo exhibition marks a key moment in Panda’s practice: a synthesis of process and poetics that speaks to the layered terrain of personal and collective becoming. Working across drawing, textile, and object-making, Panda’s materials remain intimate and often tactile—threads, fibres, lines drawn in meditative rhythm. Her language is one of quiet insistence: repetition as devotion, mark-making as a kind of witnessing. Each piece is a record, not just of thought or emotion, but of attention—a sustained act of looking inward while staying grounded in the world around her.

NATURE THROUGH KALEIDOSCOPES - GRACIELA CASSEL @PELHAM BAY PARK, BRONX 20 SEP, 2025 - 19 SEP, 2026

Orange Kaleidoscope is constructed from 56 mirrors and steel. It replaces the camera lens with the human eye, inviting poetic optical explorations within and beyond the urban landscape. Looking through it reveals its power to construct and deconstruct the surrounding environment, while the sculpture patiently awaits the viewer, ready to reflect and project their presence. Radar Kaleidoscope looks to both sky and land, interweaving science, mathematics, and nature into an amplified image. It captures and reinterprets the surrounding landscape, transforming it into multiple perspectives that offer a fresh view of the world. These diverse interpretations invite viewers to experience their environment as if gazing into an entirely different realm.
