Your Next Art Opportunity Could Be Here
Fall is one of the busiest application seasons for artists, and this week’s opportunities cover four very different ways to move a creative practice forward.
There is funding for community-driven projects across Manhattan, direct financial support for visual artists based in Queens, an opportunity to build an entire solo exhibition in New York City, and an open call for independent artists planning ahead for Clio Art Fair’s May 2027 editions in Chelsea.
Some of these deadlines are approaching quickly—including one that closes today—while others give artists more time to develop a strong proposal or exhibition plan.
What makes this week’s selection particularly useful is the range of support available. One opportunity provides unrestricted funding. Another supports projects designed to engage Manhattan communities. Others focus on visibility, public presentation, and professional exhibition experience.
We’ve organized this week’s selection to highlight a mix of urgent deadlines, exhibition opportunities, and funding programs worth considering now.
1. Art Dealer Street — Limited Solo Exhibition Opportunity
Location: New York City Opportunity Type: Solo Exhibition / Gallery Opportunity Application Deadline: October 20, 2026 — Last Day to Apply Promotional Rate: $7,500 per week Exhibition Period: October 2026 – January 2027
Art Dealer Street is offering a limited number of artists the opportunity to present their own solo exhibition in New York City as part of a special promotional program.
Selected artists receive a full exhibition week in a professional gallery environment, along with support throughout installation, presentation, promotion, and de-installation.
The package includes art handling and installation, professional art-dealer service during public exhibition hours, online communication and promotion, a dedicated Artsy exhibition page, an opening cocktail reception, custom vinyl lettering with the artist’s name and exhibition title, printed postcards, and ongoing gallery support.
Artists can select preferred exhibition weeks running from October 2026 through January 2027.
This opportunity is particularly suited to artists who already have a developed body of work and are ready to move beyond a group presentation into a focused solo exhibition.
Today, October 20, is the final day to apply.
2. Clio Art Fair — May 2027 Early Bird Applications
Location: 511 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York City
Dates: May 6–9 & May 13–16, 2027
Opportunity Type: Art Fair / Exhibition Opportunity
Early Bird Deadline: December 1, 2026
Clio Art Fair is accepting Early Bird applications for its 26th and 27th editions, taking place across two consecutive weeks in Chelsea in May 2027.
May 6–9, 2027 | 26th Edition
May 13–16, 2027 | 27th Edition
Known as the “Anti-Fair for Independent Artists,” Clio Art Fair provides artists working without exclusive NYC gallery representation with an opportunity to exhibit directly in New York.
Applications are reviewed by the fair’s Curatorial Board, and accepted artists are offered exhibition options based on the amount of space and level of support they require.
Wall-space participation begins at 5 feet, with Gold, Platinum, and Diamond plans available.
Services can include lighting, VIP passes, online presence, social media visibility, art handling, wall labeling, storage, and professional art-dealer representation depending on the selected plan.
Artists do not pay the participation fee when submitting their application. Selected applicants receive a Notice of Approval with instructions for confirming their space.
During the Early Bird period, the standard $50 application fee is waived.
Early Bird Deadline: December 1, 2026
3. Tallichet Freedman Foundation — TTFF Micro Grant
Location: Queens, New York Opportunity Type: Artist Grant Disciplines: Visual Arts Application Deadline: October 29, 2026 Grant Amount: $3,000
The Tallichet Freedman Foundation is offering unrestricted $3,000 micro grants to ten visual artists who live and/or work within the 11385 ZIP code in Queens, New York.
Unlike project-specific funding, the grant is unrestricted, allowing selected artists to determine how the money can most effectively support their practice.
That could mean purchasing materials, covering studio expenses, producing new work, preparing for an exhibition, documenting existing work, or addressing other practical needs connected to maintaining an artistic career.
Each selected artist will also participate in a filmed studio interview produced by TTFF, creating an additional opportunity to document their work, practice, and creative process.
Because eligibility is highly location-specific, artists should confirm that they live or work within ZIP code 11385 before applying.
For eligible Queens-based visual artists, this is a straightforward opportunity to receive both direct financial support and additional documentation and visibility around their practice.
Deadline: October 29, 2026
4. LMCC Manhattan Arts Grants — 2027 Cycle
Location: Manhattan, New York City Organizer: Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Opportunity Type: Grant / Project Funding Application Deadline: November 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET Funding: $1,000–$20,000
The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council is accepting applications for its 2027 Manhattan Arts Grants cycle, supporting artists and organizations developing cultural projects across Manhattan.
The program is open to individual artists, informal creative groups, and smaller nonprofit arts organizations working across disciplines including visual art, performance, literature, media, and interdisciplinary practice.
Awards range from $1,000 to $20,000, with funding intended to help artists develop work that meaningfully engages Manhattan communities and creates opportunities for public participation.
LMCC places particular emphasis on projects that respond to local communities, expand access to arts programming, and activate public or communal spaces through culture.
Depending on the funding category, artists may be able to seek project-based or unrestricted support.
The application is free, and LMCC also provides Applicant Labs and virtual office hours to help prospective applicants understand eligibility, strengthen proposals, and navigate the application process.
For artists interested in developing public-facing work while building deeper connections within Manhattan neighborhoods, this is a substantial local funding opportunity worth exploring.
Deadline: November 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET
Four Opportunities, Four Different Needs
This week’s opportunities show just how differently support for an artistic practice can look.
The Art Dealer Street Solo Exhibition Opportunity is about presentation—giving artists the space and professional framework to build an exhibition around their work.
Clio Art Fair May 2027 gives independent artists the opportunity to plan ahead for a professional art-fair experience in Chelsea next spring, building visibility and connecting their work with new audiences.
The TTFF Micro Grant offers something more flexible: unrestricted funding that eligible Queens-based artists can use according to the immediate needs of their practice.
The LMCC Manhattan Arts Grants focus on the relationship between artistic work and community, supporting projects that bring cultural programming directly into Manhattan neighborhoods.
Before applying, consider what would actually create the most meaningful progress for your work right now.
Is it funding? A dedicated exhibition? Greater public visibility? Community engagement? Or simply having a major opportunity on the calendar that gives your next body of work a clear destination?
The strongest application usually begins with understanding exactly what you need—and choosing the opportunity designed to provide it.
