Tanya Bonakdar presents a Dana Powell Exhibition
As from 6th of June Tanya Bonakdar Gallery will be presenting a Dana Powell first solo exhibition at the gallery, through 26th July 2019 in New York.
Titled ‘Burner’, the exhibition exhibits the artist’s minimal realistic oil paintings, which capture ordinary moments of the daily life.
Powell’s still life canvasses are demonstrated in a way that, they present a sense of familiarity to the viewer in form of flora, landscapes, fruits and food, elevator doors, swimming pools, explosions and lone street lamps, among others. Abstraction is a theme in some of her works.
For her latest body of work, Powell was inspired from recollections of summer activities, i.e. boats rides, fireworks and night drives.
